Komende zomer bieden prof. dr. Ruud Schotting (hoogleraar kwantitatief watermanagement aan de Universiteit Utrecht) en prof. dr. ir. Hans van Duijn (Rector Magnificus van de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven) de zomercursus “Fresh and Salt Groundwater in Deltaic Regions: Mathematics, Numerical Modeling and Applications” aan. De cursus vindt plaats van maandag 1 juli tot en met vrijdag 5 juli. Deze cursus wordt gegeven aan University College Roosevelt en maakt deel uit van Utrecht Summer School.

The hydrogeology group at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Gothenburg, aims at developing strategies for groundwater research within the concept of integrated water resources management at the regional scale. An essential aspect of this strategy is to develop tools and modeling approaches that are adjusted to the complexity and heterogeneity of large scale groundwater systems and the often poor availability and uneven distribution of data at regional scales. Within that context, the PhD. student will contribute to an “Approach for the classification of regional groundwater systems based on hydrogeological characterization and analyses of time series
of groundwater observations”.

Postdoc or early stage Researcher in Hydrogeology – Hydrology

The hydrogeology group at the Department of Earth Sciences aims mainly at developing strategies for groundwater research within the concept of integrated water resources management at the regional scale but we are open to develop other research activities in many fields of applied hydrogeology, including geotechnical applications, groundwater and soil remediation and groundwater management. The position includes the possibility to take part actively in the development of the research group, including building up infrastructure for field and lab research in cooperation with other groups at the department. Teaching is not mandatory but it is most welcome if the successful candidate wants to become involved in teaching activities. It is expected that the successful candidate develops his/her own research profile in the field of hydrogeology in close connection to the group’s main research strategy by publishing in international journals and through applications for research grants.

Symposium Ecohydrologie veenlandschappen

Symposium “Ecohydrologie van veenlandschappen: verworvenheden, ontwikkelingen en toekomstige uitdagingen”

Op donderdag 22 november aanstaande organiseert de NHV i.s.m. Deltares en enkele partners het afscheidssymposium voor Geert van Wirdum, met de bovenstaande titel als voorlopige werktitel. Op het symposium zal voor het voetlicht worden gebracht wat vijfendertig jaar ecohydrologisch onderzoek aan veengebieden opgeleverd heeft en hoe we nu verder moeten. Presentaties met een breed en beschouwend karakter zullen worden gecombineerd met bijdragen vanuit het vernieuwende onderzoek en toepassingen in de praktijk. Het symposium zal plaatsvinden in bij Deltares te Utrecht (Princetonlaan 6).

NHV Najaarsbijeenkomst 2012

Op 15 november 2012 organiseert de NHV haar Najaarsbijeenkomst. Het onderwerp dit jaar is de "Modeling Contest Hupsel". Een flink aantal personen/teams heeft met verschillende modelconcepten de extreme neerslaggebeurtenis van augustus 2010 (zowel qua herhalingstijd als qua voorgeschiedenis) gesimuleerd en presenteert op deze dag de resultaten.
